Introduction
PC Prevue has been released, and to go along with that a bunch of confusion has been generated around getting it set up. With that said, I guess I might as well teach my ways of getting it functional.
What You Need
Here's a list of things that you will need to get it working:
- A physical computer or virtual machine - PC Prevue relies on Microsoft Windows, as such you will either need the following:
- A computer running anything from Windows 95 to 10 and has a RS232 serial port. If your computer does not have it, you will need a USB-to-Serial adapter. A physical Null-modem cable is also required
- A virtual machine with at least Windows 9x/XP/Vista/7/8/10 installed. You will also need an emulated null-modem cable driver. I will be using this method here, along with VMware.
- DOSBox also seems to work, but can be fairly buggy when trying to get it all working. If you still want to try that, go here.
- PCPrevueWin9x.zip - An archive of the PC Prevue installer.
NOTE: If you are running a 64-bit operating system and you get an error upon running it, please use this archive instead.
Now, with all of that said, let's begin.
