Introduction

Like the Amiga tutorial, there didn't seem to be a proper Atari EPG tutorial out there, so I decided to make another of my own. This teaches you how to set up a very basic EPG Jr. simulation. For the time being, this is the closest we have to the original Electronic Program Guide or Prevue Guide firmware. Unfortunately listings aren't fully supported at the moment, as no Atari 8-bit emulator (to my knowledge) can currently utilize TCP/IP for serial at this time.

What You Need

Here's a list of things that you will need to set an emulation up. This may change in the future when the TCP/IP version of Atari800 is released:

Atari800 - A multi-platform Atari 8-bit emulator. Other emulators (e.g. Altirra) should work.

As of August 2023, there is now a fork of Atari800 for interfacing with PrevueCLI and other listing senders.

EPG Jr. ROM - The EPG Jr. ROM file. This ROM has a select code of DKJR6, however you can also get a ROM of code NJJR6.
PC Xformer Classic 3.8 - An Atari 130XL emulator for MS-DOS systems. This seems to be one of many ways to acquire legal Atari ROMs, so I've provided a link to it here.
