back to 2D, but this time with (limited) animation!
wanted to try and emulate “squigglevision” (signature style of animation used in dr. katz professional therapist and the first season of home movies) for at least one of these, and decided to do it on this one.
the colors used were sampled from the default Autodesk Animator Pro palette, which was reportedly the piece of software this animation technique was done with (according to commentaries on the home movies S1 DVD set) and I used CLIP STUDIO PAINT with a brush with anti-aliasing disabled.
the “squiggling” was achieved by splitting the layers into individiual files, cleaning them up in Photoshop, then applying the “Turbulence Noise” (or whatever it's called, I forgot) visual effect in After Effects (with the affected layer set to “Draft” to prevent anti-aliasing.)
i rendered them out to individual frames and finally turned them into a looping GIF, as seen here.
characters featured are “Sadie” and “Snailzii” by Bekzii.
