Troubleshooting

This page is meant to address common problems people have been having with emulating the Prevue Channel software and third-party tools.

Amiga software

• I get Please Stand By for your Local Listings. ER007! No listings could be loaded for the current date and time. A number of reasons can cause this:
  1. Are you attempting to send listings? If yes, check the diagnostic menu.
  2. How many channels do you have set up? Version 9.0.4 seems to hold a maximum of 500 channels, 7.8.3 can do about 300 or more channels, while 7.3.13 can do about 100 (especially considering the dump is meant for Amiga 1000-based systems) as well as EPG Jr. Try condensing the channels.csv file to 500 channels or much less.
• I get Attention PREVUE Engineer! Report ER009 to Prevue Technical Staff! Too much Chip RAM will throw this error. Make sure it is set to 1 MB.
• I get a Guru Meditation with the error code 8000 0008! This error means a CPU privilege violation has occurred. This only seems to occur for some running the zipped package of 7.3.13. Unfortunately, the only fix I know of is trying a different version or the Amiga disk file of 7.3.13.

PC Prevue (DOSBox)

• I get This version of Windows requires MS-DOS 7.1.! Make sure your dosbox.conf file has ver set 7.1 appended at the very end, else Windows 95 will not boot.
• I get The BaseBand port could not be opened. Modify the CommPort value under the [BaseBand] field in the PCEPGSYS.INI file (located in the Windows directory) to an open COM port on your system.

PrevueCLI

• I get error: cannotOpenFile! Make sure the file/folder specified exists. If it does not, create it.
• I get The application was unable to start correctly (0xc0000005) when trying to run it! PrevueCLI currently only supports Windows 10 and higher.

Hollywood

• The clock only loads! No listings could be found for your the current date and time. Set your computer’s date back to September 7, 2018.
• How do I load in my own listings? The only method is to manually inject listings into the SQL Server. More information coming at a later date.

Third-party software

• The program ‘mc2xml’ stopped working for me! Re-download mc2xml from the developer’s website.
